2024 LGBTQ+ Spring Series 1 Pickleball - 3.5 and Above (Competitive)

Friendly reminder, you are joining a league founded as an inclusive, social, and safe place for LGBTQ+ individuals. We encourage participation for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation or preference - with emphasis on members of the LGBTQ+ community. It is our hope that your team be comprised primarily of those individuals.

TYPE: FLEX LEAGUE

• A Flex League format allows for each of the teams scheduled to play to complete their matches at their agreed-upon location, date, and time.
  

• Six Week Pickleball League with a set playoff date of April 20. Note: All Season matches must be completed before April 24.

FORMAT: ROUND-ROBIN

• Each team plays against all other teams during the season for one match (three games).

SKILL LEVEL: 3.5 and Above (Advanced)

• 3.5 =
  • FOREHAND: Improved stroke development with moderate level of shot control.
  • BACKHAND: Learning stroke form and starting to develop consistency but will avoid if possible.
  • SERVE / RETURN: Consistently gets serve/return in play with limited ability to control depth.
  • DINK: Increased consistency, with limited ability to control height/depth. Sustains medium length rallies. Starting to understand variations of pace.
  • 3RD SHOT: Developing the drop shot in a way to get to the net.
  • VOLLEY: Is able to volley medium paced shots thereby developing control.
  • STRATEGY: Moves quickly towards the non-volley zone (NVZ) when the opportunity is there. Acknowledges difference between hard game and soft game and is starting to vary own game during recreation and tournament play. Can sustain short rallies. Is learning proper court positioning. Basic knowledge of stacking and understands situations where it can be effective.

REGISTRATION INFO:

FREE AGENT - If you don't have a partner. We'll do our best to find you one.

CAPTAIN - If you already have a partner, then you're free to create your own team.

TEAM PLAYER - If you already have a partner and they have already registered.

TEAM SIZE:

• 2 to 3 Players on a Team are allowed (2 on the court at one time)
• "Extra" Team Player may swap out in between games only.

MATCH/GAME DURATION:

• Play 1 Match consisting of 3 Games.
• Each Game is played to 11 Points, win by 2.
• Maximum Game Point to 15. First to 15 Wins.
• ALL 3 Games are to be played. This will count towards your overall Season Standings.

WHEN:

SEASON PLAY

• Start of Season: Mar 14
• End of Season: Apr 24
• Playoffs: Apr 28
• Teams must complete all assigned matches by Apr 24.

COST: $35 a player which covers

• 1 Franklin X-40 Pickleball Balls
  
• 6 Week Season of organized play
• RSL T-Shirt
• DUPR rating with Rainbow Sports League
• Weekly Pickleball Social at the host bar to meet other players with drink and food specials.
• Organized Playoff
• Awards Ceremony for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.
• End-of-Season Superlative Awards

Note: Registration must occur before Mar 7 for a t-shirt.

SUBSTITUTES:

• Not allowed for Pickleball
